1995 Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz 750ml

$183.75
The 1995 Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz is a superbly matured example of one of Australia’s most enduring and celebrated blends. Produced by the iconic Penfolds, Bin 389 is often referred to as “Baby Grange,” valued for its ability to combine structure, richness, and long-term ageing potential at a more accessible level within the Penfolds portfolio. The 1995 vintage is widely regarded as a strong and balanced year in South Australia, providing ideal conditions for both Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. Bin 389 is a multi-regional blend, traditionally drawing fruit from premium South Australian vineyards, and is matured in American oak hogsheads, many of which have previously held Grange—contributing depth, integration, and a distinctive Penfolds stamp. With nearly three decades of bottle age, the wine now shows a complex and harmonious profile. Aromas of dried blackcurrant, plum, and dark cherry have evolved into layers of cedar, tobacco leaf, leather, earth, cocoa, and subtle savoury spice. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, composed and smooth, with resolved tannins, mellowed fruit, and a long, balanced finish that reflects both maturity and pedigree. This is a wine that demonstrates the classic Bin 389 character: Cabernet’s structure and definition seamlessly interwoven with Shiraz’s generosity and warmth. Drinking beautifully now, the 1995 Bin 389 should be carefully decanted to remove sediment and enjoyed at a measured pace. Well-stored bottles may continue to hold for several more years. A classic, fully mature Australian Cabernet–Shiraz blend and a compelling addition to any serious wine collection.
