About Castagna Castagna is one of the leading producers of the Beechworth region. In 1997, Julian and Carolann Castagna packed up their city life and moved into and caravan on a bare patch of dirt in the Beechworth region of north-east Victoria. Farmed biodynamically from the get go, the Castagnas planted their vineyard with a view to making complex Syrah in the mode of Cote-Rotie and savoury, structural Italian varieties that could compete with their European counterparts. It's a wildly successful family business that they have built, with son Adam stepping into the winemaking role and a sea of adoring wine collectors awaiting each new release.
