The Cullen Wines Vanya contains 100% cabernet sauvignon and is hand harvested under the full Moon on a fruit day, and Holi Day – the Hindu festival of colour.
The fruit was sorted, destemmed, and fermented on skins for 10 days, then pressed into new barriques for 6 months. This wine is grown on certified biodynamic, carbon positive soils, and is a perfect expression of the purity of cabernet sauvignon.
"Two-thirds whole berries/one-third crushed into 300l terracotta amphorae for wild fermentation, 10 weeks on skins before pressed to French oak (66% new) for 5 months. This is a truly beautiful and graceful cabernet. Its purity of varietal fruit expression, its perfect fruit/oak/tannin balance and its length are exceptional. " - 99 Points James Halliday, The Wine Companion
"100% Cabernet Sauvignon, planted in 1971, with primary and malolactic fermentations completed over 10 weeks in terracotta amphorae before the wine was pressed into barrel (two thirds new) and aged for five months before bottling unfined and unfiltered. "- Other critics: 97 points, Josh Raynolds (Vinous).
