Jetzt bis 2045. 97 Points – Wine Enthusiast (Mar 2023) “Australia's most famous single-vineyard wine delivers, once again, a unique expression of place and people. Aromas of tomato stem, blackberry, blueberry compote, cumin, sage and mocha oak. Plush and powerful, with ultra-fine tannins and bright tangy acidity. Savory, earthy and beautifully balanced. Could age another 15–20 years easily.” 18/20 – Jancis Robinson (Mar 2022) Drinking Window: 2024–2040 96 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (May 2022) Drinking Window: 2022–2047 Producer Notes Hill of Grace is surely one of the most evocative phrases in the world of wine. It is a translation from the German ‘Gnadenberg’ (“Hill of Grace”), the name of the Lutheran church overlooking the vineyard. The 4-hectare single-vineyard Shiraz planting is located at Parrot Hill, 4 km north-west of Henschke Cellars in Eden Valley. Vineyard Notes In our viticulture today we are blessed to apply the practical wisdom and knowledge passed down from past generations alongside the benefits of modern learnings and research. In this dry-grown vineyard on its own roots, Prue Henschke has observed the benefits of mulching, composting, and the use of permanent native grasses to build soil health and preserve moisture. Ageing Matured in 85% French and 15% American oak (29% new, 71% seasoned) hogsheads for 18 months prior to blending and bottling. Vintage Context (2017 Single Vineyard Release) 2017 marks the release of four single-vineyard Shiraz wines from the Eden Valley: Hill of Grace, Hill of Roses, Mount Edelstone, and The Wheelwright. This vintage reflects the Henschke family’s six generations of winemaking, continuing the vision of Cyril Henschke, who first produced Hill of Grace in 1958 from vines planted around 1860. “2017 is a vintage graced by vitality,” says Stephen Henschke. “The long and gentle growing season produced wines of depth, purity and energy — akin to great late, cool vintages such as 1992, 2006 and 2012.” Specifications Region: Eden Valley, South Australia Variety: 100% Shiraz Alcohol: 14.5% Maturation: 85% French & 15% American oak (29% new) Closure: Screwcap Peak Drinking: 2022–2047
