93/100 — Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion · 2017 Vintage · Published 02 August 2023
“Pinot noir from a Moorilla Estate vineyard built from cuttings collected by Claudio Alcorso while on holiday in Burgundy in 1963. It’s a wild-edged wine with a flighty aromatic profile of black cherry and dark plum fruits cut with exotic spice, game, dried citrus rind, pressed purple flowers, smoked meats and something vaguely maritime, maybe kombu-like in the distance. Medium bodied with plenty of spice and earthy tones with sour cherry, wild strawberry and a calm, composed finish.”
About This Wine
Muse is wine of the old world made in the new—a Tasmanian expression of classic European winemaking. These wines exude texture, integration and complexity. Savour their fine balance and finesse with delicate food. They’re great in their youth, and excellent with bottle maturity.
About the Producer
Moorilla makes three styles of wine. Praxis is the bold and the immediate. Muse is the old world remade in the new. Cloth Label is luxurious and daring, decades in the making.
Its sibling winery, Domaine A, produces big, Bordeaux-inspired wines and younger, drink-now styles under the Stoney Vineyard label.
