94/100 — Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion · 2017 Vintage (Published: 04 October 2024, Tasted: 12 Sep 2024)
“Crimson in the glass with deep blackberry, blackcurrant and cassis fruits. Leafy around the edges with a distinct coal dust/graphite vibe along with hints of dark spices, cedar, leather, crushed herbs, undergrowth, mahogany and earth. Fruit rich and old-school in its stance with tight, fine-grained tannins and an earthy, darkly spiced and slightly broody exit.”
Producer Notes:
A silky, elegant Cabernet blend—unapologetically medium-bodied, with layers of savoury spice over a solid core of intense fruit. Tannins are fine and the oak is seamlessly integrated, offering subtle hints of cedar and pepper alongside dark fruit and beetroot-driven earthiness. A classic cool-climate Cab in a timeless, food-friendly style that highlights the variety’s natural versatility at the table.
