This leads to a bold, rich and round palate that spoons out a big mouthful of ripe plum and blueberry fruit flavor. Boldly elemental for now with essence-like depth of blueberry fruit at the finish. Ditto the JC, or thereabouts. A more ferrous block, here. I am detecting some Aussie scrub that I didn’t sense when first poured. In the best way! Really aromatic and pulpy, with palate-staining density defied by a lightness of feel. The tannins drive a sumptuous finish, corralling any stray excess. Mulberry, violet, Dr Pepper and a wonderful creaminess that is far from oak-derived. A nostalgic ping with contemporary styling. A manifest of vineyard rejuvenation, historic celebration and future affirmation.” About This Wine This wine is sourced from a single block of Shiraz planted 49 years ago, grown on ancient dark grey slaty siltstone soils flecked with ironstone, facing south-east at an altitude of 108 metres. The DC Block is named for Don Cant, the previous owner, and was the first single block wine released from the vineyard.
