About This Wine
Lake’s Folly Cabernets is a Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Shiraz, made from low-yielding, estate-grown, hand-picked fruit. The fruit is open-fermented to produce softer, more subtle tannins, before being transferred to large old casks for settling. The wine is then aged in small French oak barriques, including new and one- and two-year-old barrels, prior to bottling.
Winery
Established in 1963, Lake’s Folly is one of the Hunter Valley’s most historic estates and is widely regarded as a benchmark producer of ageworthy Cabernet blends. Located in Pokolbin, the vineyard focuses on low yields, careful vineyard management and traditional winemaking techniques, producing wines of structure, restraint and longevity that reflect the classic Hunter Valley style.
