95/100 — Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion · 2018 Vintage (Tasted: 09 Sep 2024, When to drink: 2024–2030)
“A mashup of every white variety grown on the St. Matthias vineyard – pinot gris, gewürztraminer, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc and riesling – and just a touch of pinot noir. This is such a cool smelling (and tasting) wine. Endlessly complex with pithy citrus fruits, apple, Turkish delight, meadow flowers, feijoa, crushed stone, dried honey and some hippocampus tweaking aromas of my father’s old workshop – the neurochemistry of nostalgia. Stony, savoury and fascinatingly complex drinking.”
94/100 — The Wine Front · 2018 Vintage (Tasted: Jan 2025)
About This Wine
A typically elegant example of the full-vineyard-in-a-glass philosophy brought to the Cloth Label. The nose is balanced between citrus, spice and a rich bouquet of florals, including jasmine and faint rose.
Full-bodied on the palate, with layered citrus flavours, nougat-like sweetness and acidity held together by texture, tannin and a subtle hint of grip. A wine built for complexity and cellaring.
About the Winery
Moorilla makes three styles of wine. Praxis is the bold and the immediate. Muse is the old world remade in the new. Cloth Label is luxurious and daring, decades in the making.
Its sibling winery, Domaine A, produces big, Bordeaux-inspired wines and younger, drink-now styles under the Stoney Vineyard label.
