Founded in 2007, Mullineux has consistently progressed, building upon each year's successes. Following experiences in various wineries across France, South Africa, and California, Chris and Andrea decided to make the Swartland region of South Africa their home. They firmly believed that the terroirs rich in granite and schist, along with the region's old vineyards, held the potential to yield exceptional wines. And they were so right.The Swartland, characterized by its captivating and untamed beauty, unfolds in a landscape of rolling hills interspersed with notable rock formations such as the Paardeberg, Kasteelberg, and Piketberg mountains. Establishing vines in this challenging terrain is no simple task, and the region's influence on both the vineyards and the people who cultivate them is profound. Much like the old American West, as described by film director David von Ancken, the primal and universal power of the landscape peels away everything, leaving only the truth of men's souls. Why do we like it? The Kloof Street range is characterized by its emphasis on freshness, balance, and excellent drinkability. The Swartland Rouge represents a Mediterranean-style red blend, predominantly composed of Syrah with other Rhône varieties. The grapes for this blend are carefully selected from vineyards located on different soils across various regions of the Swartland.We love the tasting notes of this wine. Southern Rhône varieties present a perfumed nose featuring violets, spice, and purple fruit. The palate, medium to full-bodied, exhibits a finely textured profile with firm yet approachable tannins. The wine concludes with a fresh and lingering finish, best enjoyed at temperatures ranging from 16 to 18 °C.
