ABOUT THE WINEHailing from a family steeped in viticulture, Don Lewis spent 32 years at the Mitchelton winery in Heathcote, where he built a lasting bond with Narelle King. In 2004, he transitioned to consultancy—most notably in Priorat, Spain—which deepened his passion for Italian and Spanish wines. In 2006, together with Narelle, he launched Tar and Roses to demonstrate how these classic varietals can thrive across Central Victoria's diverse terroirs.
TASTING NOTESThis dazzling barrel-selection release is sourced from two distinct vineyards: one on Terra Rossa Cambrian soil that imparts robust depth and power, and another on well-drained gravel that offers refined aromatics and vibrant acidity. The nose reveals enticing black fruit and liquorice aromas with subtle hints of eucalyptus and mint. On the palate, soft black fruit mingles with nuances of tobacco, white pepper, and vanilla, all supported by silky tannins and excellent aging potential.
