2020 Irvine 'Springhill' Merlot 750ml

A pioneer of Merlot, James Irvine has produced an attractive plump style with leafy plum and mulberry flavours. The perfect match with crown of lamb. Impenetrable inky black heart with a deep dark red black hue. Showing good lift out of the glass are aromatics of liquorice and dark plum which mix with vanillin oak, fennel and light pepper. The bright youthful palate features generous freshly crushed dark cherry, liquorice and dark plum fruits over inky earth and vanillin spice. Lively acidity with slightly chalky tannins and a vibrantly fruited aftertaste that has an inky feel to it.
