94/100 — Huon Hooke · 2020 Vintage
“Medium yellow colour; bright. Intense oak and pungent sauvignon aromas, balsamic and ‘wild’ characters. Delicious and lingering, with a nice clean finish and good length.”
93/100 — Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion · 2020 Vintage (Published: 30 August 2024)
“It’s sauvignon blanc, Jim, but not as we know it. Light straw with aromas of guava, feijoa, grapefruit, gooseberry and waxy lemon, with hints of clotted cream, crushed stone, candle wax, honeysuckle, flint and dried honey. Quite expansive and complex, finishing stony dry with notes of drying hay and citrus fruits.”
Producer Notes
Clean, bright and gold at first glance, and beyond. Delicate tropical notes on the nose are balanced by gooseberry and a bit of honeyed grass, while the palate zings with lemon-and-grapefruit acidity that toasts and richens towards the back of the palate. A bright, balanced gem that’ll pair wonderfully with food—maybe some prosciutto and melon and a hard cheese.
