2020 Penfolds Bin 144 Yattarna Chardonnay 750ml

$204.75
Overview The 2020 Penfolds Bin 144 Yattarna is the flagship Chardonnay of the Penfolds portfolio, representing the pinnacle of Australian cool-climate white winemaking. First released in 1995 after years of research and development, Yattarna—meaning “little by little, gradually” in an Aboriginal language—embodies the pursuit of perfection. The 2020 vintage delivers precision, purity, and remarkable depth. Vineyard and Winemaking Fruit is sourced from carefully selected cool-climate vineyards across premium Australian regions, primarily Tasmania and Adelaide Hills. Whole-bunch pressed fruit was fermented in French oak barriques, with a portion of new oak to add structure and complexity. Extended lees ageing and careful maturation created texture, integration, and longevity while preserving vibrant fruit purity. Tasting Notes Aromas of white peach, lemon curd, and grapefruit are layered with notes of roasted cashew, flint, and subtle brioche. The palate is finely structured and powerful, revealing concentrated citrus and stone fruit framed by creamy texture and mineral tension. Bright acidity carries through to a long, focused finish of elegance and persistence. Style and Character The 2020 Yattarna is precise, poised, and sophisticated, showcasing Penfolds’ vision of a world-class Australian Chardonnay. It balances richness with restraint, delivering layered complexity, finesse, and impressive ageing potential. Cellaring and Pairing Enjoy now with decanting for its youthful intensity, or cellar confidently for 12–20 years as the wine develops further complexity. Ideal with lobster, scallops, roast chicken, or creamy seafood dishes.
