2021 M.Chapoutier ‘Combe Pilate’, IGP Collines Rhodaniennes, France

$45.00
Michel Chapoutier is a renowned French winemaker and the owner of M. Chapoutier, a prestigious winery in the Rhône Valley. Known for his innovative approach and commitment to biodynamic viticulture, Chapoutier has elevated his wines to international acclaimed, especially due to high scores from Robert Parker in the 90’s. His dedication to terroir-driven wines has earned numerous accolades and a reputation for producing some of the finest wines in the world in the region. Michel’s wine journey began when he was 26 years old. He stood up against principles of the past and preconceived ideas. He is a man close to the earth, in a thorough quest for revealing terroirs and since 1991, biodynamics is at the heart Michel’s philosophy. Why do we like it? The grapes come from organic vineyards only and after fermentation, the wine spends 9 months ageing in demi-muids (600-litre barrels). Undergoes malolactic conversion. It possesses an intense Viognier aroma of peaches and apricots but is toned down by a great mineral, and spice quality. It is softly textured yet surprisingly fresh with lots of jasmine flowers and bergamot on the palate. It’s a mini Condrieu of remarkable value!  Grape            Viognier Country        France                                   Region          IGP Collines Rhodaniennes                     Vintage         2021
