2021 Monte Bernardi 'Retromarcia' Chianti Classico, Tuscany

Monte Bernardi is situated in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, in Panzano, Tuscany. The estate was established in the 1970s when it was acquired by the Schleicher family from Germany. Since then, the winery has been dedicated to producing wines that reflect the unique terroir of their vineyards. Monte Bernardi has embraced biodynamic practices, seeking to enhance the natural characteristics of their land, aiming to preserve the biodiversity and health of their environment.  Why do we like it? 'Retromarcia,' translating to "reverse" or "back up," symbolizes a return to classic Chianti Classico expressions. This wine is made solely from Sangiovese grapes, reflecting the winery's dedication to showcasing the purity and complexity of this noble grape. The vineyards from which the grapes are sourced are located in the highly regarded Panzano area, where a mix of Galestro, Alberese, and sandstone soils contribute to the wine's unique flavor profile. Monte Bernardi 'Retromarcia' Chianti Classico pairs wonderfully with a variety of dishes that complement its bright acidity and grippy tannins.
