Syrah No.2 is a refined expression of Place of Changing Winds’ unique vineyard in Macedon Ranges, Victoria. Made from organically farmed vines grown on high-altitude, quartz and sandstone-rich soils, this wine reflects a cooler vintage and a terroir-driven style.
The 2021 release is composed predominantly of whole-bunch fermented Syrah, matured in a combination of seasoned oak and ceramic egg vessels to preserve purity and finesse. Aromatically lifted with notes of wild raspberry, black cherry, black pepper, dried herbs, and violets, the wine is vibrant and savoury.
On the palate, it shows medium-bodied elegance, fine-grained tannins, and a mineral-driven structure. Tightly woven red and black fruits are layered with earthy spice and graphite, leading to a precise and lingering finish.
This is a Syrah of restraint and complexity, designed for both immediate enjoyment and cellaring over the next 8 to 10 years.
