His commitment to viticulture is shown through his extreme vineyard plantings in the Karibib vineyard in southern Stellenbosch. Here, he has invested substantially in planting what he anticipates to be a top-quality Syrah vineyard, with the potential to yield grapes of unprecedented quality in Stellenbosch. Why do we like it? The Savage Red 2021 is coming from a small 0.38-hectare organic vineyard on sandy gravel soil with maritime influence and plenty of wind. A pure Syrah which exemplifies the power and richness that characterize Duncan’s wines. This flagship red undergoes extended bottle aging, allowing its complexity to shine. The wine presents an aromatic profile with expressive notes of lavender, ripe red plum, blackberry and rosemary/thyme nuances.
