Robert Parker – Wine Advocate – 2021 Vintage
98+ Points
“It’s one of a handful of super sensational Shiraz Viognier… On the nose, the 2021 RunRig is savory and meaty, with charry oak at the fore, backed by black cherry, graphite, dried rose petals, red and purple fruit, flowers and black tea… On the palate, the wine is both silky and huge… momentous, long and complex… all the elements are perfectly in balance… a great wine, from a great season. Bigger than perhaps ever before.”
Joanna Simon MW – 2021 Vintage

“Expressive, lifted aromas of black fruit with a hint of ripe stone fruit overlaying bitter chocolate… generous, rich palate with fruit of great purity… layered, very long and will probably still be going well in 2050.”
Matthew Jukes – 2021 Vintage
20 Points
“This wine has something I have never seen in RunRig before – an immovable mountain of terroir… ravishing Shiraz skin… refined and finely tuned… a glorious amalgam of sophistication and power… It deserves a perfect score. This wine is unique and uniquely stunning.”
About This Wine
A flagship Shiraz–Viognier blend built from old dry-grown vineyards across the Barossa. RunRig is described as structured, muscular and concentrated, with notes of smoke, blackberries, cassis, leather and coffee, alongside sweet marmalade hints from Viognier. The wine emphasises communal vineyard expression, drawing fruit from widely dispersed holdings. It is designed for long-term ageing and crafted to reward cellaring patience.
About the Winery
Torbreck is based on the classic Rhône varieties of Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro, sourced from old vines throughout the Barossa’s microclimates. Since 1994, the winery has focused on exceptional Rhône-style wines reflecting the best vineyards of the Barossa. Torbreck’s estate facility enables handpicking, temperature-controlled vinification and estate bottling. The first RunRig was made in 1995 from three tonnes of Shiraz and Viognier grapes.
