Dorli Muhr founded Weingut Dorli Muhr in 2002 in Carnuntum, Burgenland, Austria, focusing on Blaufränkisch from the Spitzerberg vineyard. From a small inherited plot, she embraced organic viticulture by 2015, with winemaker Lukas Brandstatter boosting quality. Her 12-hectare estate produces elegant, terroir-driven wines, earning global recognition and establishing her as a leading figure in Austrian red wine, showcasing Carnuntum’s unique potential. Why do we like it? The 2021 Samt & Seide Blaufränkisch, from Spitzerberg’s limestone soils, is hand-harvested, spontaneously fermented with some whole bunches in open vats, and aged 20 months in large fuders. It offers rosehips, black pepper, and cherry-choc fruit with savory herbs.
