We love a good Beaujolais! Dominique Piron Brouilly, who is based in Morgon, makes vibrant and elegant expression of the Gamay grape. The family is based in the region for over four centuries, what a heritage! This wine comes from Brouilly, the largest and southernmost of Beaujolais’ crus, grown on granite debris and blue-tinged schist soils at 200-300 meters altitude.
Why do we like it?
It pours a deep ruby hue and offers a bouquet of ripe cherry, blackcurrant, and kirsch, accented by hints of blue flowers, cinnamon, and clove. On the palate, it’s fresh yet structured, with vivid red fruit, subtle tannins, and a round, supple finish that embodies the approachable charm Brouilly is known for. Dominique Piron’s traditional vinification, manual harvests, partial destemming, and a touch of oak aging, adds depth while preserving its fruity finesse.
