In 2000, after over 35 years of winemaking experience with some of Australia’s largest wine producers, long-time friends David O'Leary and Nick Walker founded O'Leary Walker Wines. They quickly gained a strong reputation, particularly for their exceptional Polish Hill River and Watervale Rieslings, as well as their classic Clare Valley Shiraz.
"This wine is extraordinary, showcasing a remarkable vintage, a renowned grape variety, and a unique site in the Clare Valley where Riesling thrives. It bursts with vitality and offers a world of citrus—grapefruit, lemon zest, and intense acidity. Polish Hill River’s signature spice is present, wrapped around a steely, mineral-driven finish with taut acidity. The pithy texture makes it truly mouth-watering, and though tempting to open now, patience will reward you even more." — Jeni Port
The Polish Hill fruit comes from the Molloy and Martin and Joan Smith vineyards, adjacent to each other in Polish Hill River. Organically farmed since the 1970s, these vineyards achieved NASAA Organic Certification in 2010. The grey loam soils over sandstone and slate are key to the unique character of Polish Hill Riesling, as opposed to the limestone soils of Watervale, with rocky topsoil that forces the vines to work hard, yielding fruit of exceptional quality.
