The Factor is a homage to old Barossa Valley Shiraz vineyards and the grape-growers who tend them. It is sourced from a number of sites across the western and northern sectors of the valley. Its hallmarks are brooding concentration and fruit purity. The Factor typically displays a kaleidoscope of aromas – blackberries and other dark fruits, smoke/tobacco, spices of various kinds, charcuterie meats, earth, tar, coffee grounds and coal. The densely-packed palate is richly textured and likely to add flavours of leather, black olive and wet, crushed stones. The Factor usually spends two years in predominantly older oak – thus allowing unalloyed old-vine Barossa Shiraz character to shine through.

Critic tasting note: (2022 vintage) "The Factor, a subregional blend of shiraz from across the parishes of the Barossa, is again in rude form after the excellent '21 release. Fruit aromas of blood plum, blackberry and black cherry fruits with hints of clove, kirsch, dark chocolate bullets, cherry ripe, ironstone, blackforest cake, spicy oak and earth. Concentrated and darkly spiced with a flow of black fruits, plenty of spice, fine, sandy tannins and an extended draw on the exit." - 94/100, Haliday Wine Companion
