The vineyard’s northern aspect, higher elevation and sandy ironstone soils contribute to concentration and finesse. The 2022 season was slightly cooler than 2021, with favourable winter rains and a cool ripening period through late January to March. Yields were balanced, delivering fruit with intensity, freshness and natural acidity. Fruit was hand-picked on 24 March 2022, with 25% whole bunches. Fermentation occurred in open fermenters with approximately 21 days on skins using wild yeast. The wine was matured for a total of 19 months in French oak puncheons and then further matured in Austrian and French oak foudre. Bottled November 2023. Certified Organic and Biodynamic.
