“A very satisfying Cotes-du-Rhone with an excellent balance of generous red fruit and delicate spicy aromas, with remarkably fine tannins for an entry-level wine. They support the long, velvety finish. A cuvee of 60% grenache, 30% syrah and 10% mourvedre. Drink or hold.”
About This Wine
The Saint-Esprit cuvée is produced from vineyards across the Côtes du Rhône appellation, which spans approximately 41,200 hectares across six French départements. The region is characterised by a Mediterranean climate with hot temperatures, abundant sunshine, highly seasonal rainfall, and the prevailing Mistral wind.
The entire crop is destemmed before fermentation and maceration in closed vats for approximately 15 days, with daily pumping over to ensure extraction. Fermentation temperatures are controlled between 28°C and 30°C. After devatting, pressing, and racking, malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats.
The wines are aged in vats to preserve fruit aromas, with regular racking to allow natural stabilisation. The Saint-Esprit cuvée is bottled after 8 months of ageing.
