2023 Giant Steps Sexton Vineyard Chardonnay 750ml

$86.57
The 2023 Giant Steps Sexton Vineyard Chardonnay is an exceptional single-vineyard expression from the Yarra Valley, showcasing both the precision of the season and the site’s natural generosity. It balances depth and texture with the mineral clarity and finesse that define Giant Steps’ house style. Vineyard and Winemaking Sexton Vineyard, located on the lower slopes of the Warramate Ranges, is planted on steep north-facing clay-loam soils with rocky outcrops. The warmer aspect produces fruit of intensity and concentration. Hand-picked fruit was whole-bunch pressed and fermented using indigenous yeasts in French oak puncheons, around 20% new. Lees stirring was minimal to preserve purity and drive, with partial malolactic fermentation adding softness and complexity. Tasting Notes Vibrant aromas of white peach, lemon curd, and grapefruit intertwine with hints of roasted hazelnut and struck flint. The palate is finely weighted, offering layers of citrus, stone fruit, and subtle spice, framed by creamy texture and a taut mineral core. A long, saline finish underscores both precision and power. Style and Character This vintage captures the signature richness of Sexton Vineyard while maintaining exceptional balance and restraint. A Chardonnay of tension and generosity, it reflects the interplay between vineyard warmth and winemaking precision—energetic, focused, and deeply expressive. Cellaring and Pairing Enjoy now for its vibrancy or cellar confidently for 8–10 years. Superb with butter-poached lobster, roast poultry, or grilled white fish with citrus and herbs, complementing its layered texture and minerality.
