Region and Vineyard
The 2023 High Garden Vineyard Pinot Noir is sourced from the highest vineyard in Gibbston, Central Otago, situated between 420 and 490 metres above sea level. With extended sunshine hours during the key ripening period in April, the site’s schist soils and cool-climate conditions contribute a distinct and expressive character to the wine.
Winemaking
Crafted by celebrated winemaker Jen Parr, the 2020 New Zealand Winemaker of the Year, this vintage included 30 percent whole cluster fermentation and 28 days of extended maceration on skins. The wine matured for ten months in French oak barriques, 25 percent of which were new. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, it retains its natural purity and textural depth.

A superb match for roast duck, venison, or mushroom risotto. It also pairs beautifully with aged cheeses, thanks to its depth and complexity.

This wine is captivating now and will continue to evolve gracefully through to 2040, gaining further layers of nuance and structure.
