Region and Vineyard
The 2023 Oraterra Chardonnay is sourced from the esteemed McCreanor Vineyard in Martinborough, New Zealand. The vineyard’s distinct soil structure and cool microclimate shape the wine’s refined character. Sustainable and organic practices further enhance the purity and integrity of the fruit, reflecting the region’s commitment to thoughtful viticulture.
Winemaking
Grapes were hand-harvested and gently pressed before undergoing wild fermentation in large French oak barrels ranging from 300 to 500 litres. The wine was matured on lees to build depth and texture, with natural malolactic fermentation commencing in spring. Final aging in 1000-litre oak vessels resulted in a Chardonnay that is both layered and beautifully balanced.
