2024 Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc 750ml

APPEARANCE - Pale straw. Aroma - Pure and bright perfume with an array of citrus covering grapefruit, lemon, lime and mandarin. Subtle gravelly tones help to weave another layer of complexity around the fruit. PALATE - Juicy and fresh upfront, the riper fruit spectrum of stone fruit opens and offers an intense generosity of flavour. It follows through the mid-palate with a refreshing and quenching finish of crystalline acidity. Cellaring potential Drinks beautifully now or can comfortably be cellared for five years or more.   WINSOR DOBBIN 96 Points Many Marlborough sauvignon blancs are made to a familiar formula; lean and green and refreshing with bright acid. This new release from Dog Point offers something just a little bit different. Certified organic, it has a little more mouthfeel, a tad more palate interest, than many of its contemporaries, while retaining its aromatic appeal. This has vibrancy, allied to some interesting palate complexity thanks to wild yeast fermentation and some whole bunch elements; a wine that demands to be matched with seafood, perhaps some mussels or cockles. It is bright and lively with fresh citrus and nectarine notes. Punchy, taut and intense with well judged acid, faint smoky hints and immediate appeal. Well worth seeking out. GARY WALSH 91 Points Guava, passionfruit, nettles and lavender. It’s juicy, but also kind of vegetal, with a something of a cheesy character too. I’m thinking passionfruit skin, a little bit tart and sour, but also has a flinty ‘mineral’ character to it as well. Finish is all lime and watermelon rind bitterness, with that passionfruit skin greenness a bit too prominent on the finish. Good, but not a great release in 2022. JAMES SUCKLING 93 Points Nettles, thyme, green apples and grapefruit on the nose. Medium-bodied, sharp and clean cut with a refreshing core of citrus and green fruit. Vivid.
