Description
The 2024 release from the Bastard Hill Vineyard is poised and elegant, brimming with bright red fruits and exotic florals such as bergamot and rosehip. Its palate features fine tannins and a graceful line of acidity, finishing with a lingering savoury mineral edge that speaks of its high-altitude terroir. Minimal whole-bunch inclusion and selective MV6 clone from a south-facing slope at 400 m elevation contribute to its clarity, precision and tension.
Hand-picked fruit was destemmed, cold-soaked, then fermented and matured in French oak (20% new) before bottling unfined and unfiltered. This single-vineyard Pinot Noir comes from a site with volcanic loam soils and one of Victoria’s most challenging slopes, producing wines of power, structure and longevity.
While it is accessible now with moderate decanting, this vintage will reward careful cellaring through 2035. Serve at 14–18 °C.
