2024 Yarra Yering Shiraz Cabernet Amphora 750ml

$65.79
The 2024 Yarra Yering Shiraz Cabernet Amphora is a boundary-pushing expression from one of Australia’s most innovative and revered estates. Crafted by winemaker Sarah Crowe, this small-batch release showcases Yarra Yering’s continued exploration of texture, purity, and minimal intervention winemaking. Winemaking and Concept Made from select parcels of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon grown on the original Yarra Yering vineyard, the fruit was fermented and matured entirely in terracotta amphorae rather than oak. This ancient vessel allows gentle micro-oxygenation while preserving fruit vibrancy and natural tannin structure. The result is a wine of striking clarity and freshness, highlighting the interplay of the two classic varieties without the influence of wood. Tasting Notes The nose opens with vivid aromas of wild blackberry, mulberry, and blackcurrant, lifted by hints of spice, violet, and crushed herbs. On the palate, pure fruit expression takes centre stage, with red and dark berries supported by fine, dusty tannins and energetic acidity. The texture is silky yet mineral, finishing long and savoury with subtle earth tones. Style and Character This amphora-raised Shiraz Cabernet reimagines an Australian classic with a contemporary, artisanal twist. It captures the precision and natural beauty of the Yarra Valley’s cool climate while offering a fresher, more transparent take on the traditional blend. Cellaring and Pairing Best enjoyed in its youth for vibrancy but will evolve gracefully over 8–10 years. Perfect alongside roasted duck, grilled lamb, or charred eggplant dishes, where its purity and fine structure truly shine.
