About This Wine
A skinsy, savoury twist on Yeringberg’s white blend, made from young vines and handled with a light touch. Babyberg is a project for Yeringberg’s younger vines, allowing more freedom in winemaking and a fresh take on the estate’s style.
The Marsanne makes up the bulk of the blend and spent around three weeks on skins, adding structure and chew. Roussanne was pressed straight to old barrels to preserve perfume, while Viognier was fermented in old barrels. The wines matured in old oak for 10 months before bottling, without fining or filtration.
Tasting Notes
The wine shows a soft golden colour with orange hues. Aromatically expressive with tea, honeysuckle and cumquat blossom, alongside dried herbs, stone fruit and spice. The palate is layered and textural, with apricot richness, chewy phenolics and a long, savoury finish, balanced by freshness and silkiness.
About the Producer
There are few wineries in the Yarra Valley with the prestigious history of Yeringberg. The de Pury family were pioneers of the region, establishing one of the first vineyards over 100 years ago. After the original vineyard was replanted in the 1970s, Yeringberg became one of the great sites of the modern Yarra.
Yeringberg is known for traditional winemaking and wines of finesse and elegance. The Babyberg range is produced from the youngest vines at Yeringberg, planted between 2020 and 2025 on phylloxera-resistant rootstock, and is used to explore experimental and diverse styles.
