Awards, Ratings & Reviews
“Pale gold with a gentle green flicker in the glass. The nose opens gently with notes of preserved lemon and pear, before showing faint salinity and notes of stone fruit. The palate is more giving showing orchard fruit and tart citrus, which provides acidity and structure in the wine before leaving a moreish dry finish.”

About This Wine
The growing season leading into the 2025 vintage featured bursts of warmth and intermittent rain, requiring careful vineyard management including hand weeding and canopy shoot selection.
The vintage began quickly from late February, with later varieties ripening gradually under cooler nights and occasional rainfall, helping to build flavour while maintaining acidity.
Garganega was planted due to the Farr family’s love of Soave and their desire to drink their own version of the variety. The vineyard sits on a north-facing slope of grey sandy loam over limestone with an ironstone base.
The wine is naturally fermented, with 50% in tank and 50% in one-year-old oak barrels before being bottled after 10 months.
About the Producer
Wine by Farr is a wine producer based in Bannockburn in the cool and dry Moorabool Valley in the Geelong subregion of Victoria. The estate produces a range of red, white and rosé wines from varieties including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Viognier, with Pinot Noir representing the majority of production.
The estate was established in 1994 by Robyn and Gary Farr in Bannockburn, west of Geelong and approximately 90km southwest of Melbourne. Vineyard plantings have expanded to around 36 acres under vine.
The winery is now run by the second generation, Nick and Cassie Farr, and produces three main ranges: By Farr, Farr Rising and Irrewarra.
The winery was named Australian Winery of the Year by the Australian publication Good Food in 2022.
