96/100 — 2025 Vintage
About This Wine
Lake's Folly's main production is focused on two wines, which consistently rate among the best of their type in Australia.
Our wines are single-site grown, vintaged and made on the estate.
Lake's Folly Chardonnay is made from low-yielding, estate-grown grapes which are barrel fermented and aged on yeast lees for eight months in French oak barriques (approximately 30% new oak).
There is no secondary malolactic fermentation.
The wine cellars extraordinarily well, with many vintages living for 10+ years.
Producer Notes
Pear and white peach aromas with nicely integrated, subtle French oak. The palate at this early stage is fine and delicate – in part, a reflection of the higher yield this vintage.
Peach and hints of tropical fruits flow onto the palate, which is seamless and textured from the 8 months spent on yeast lees. A spine of natural acidity gives the wine length and persistence. A wine for the ages, which will benefit from cellaring to show its full potential in 3+ years and continue to improve for 10-15 years to come.
