93/100 — Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion · 2025 Vintage · Tasted: 16 Feb 2026
“From Orth’s vineyard in Coldstream; 10% whole bunches. A light, bright ruby. A pretty wine with its aromas of alpine strawberry, cranberry and freshly picked summer flowers. Richer than the ’24, this fills out nicely on the mid-palate. Finishes with light, silky tannins and a touch of spice. A pure-fruited wine to enjoy now and over the next two to three years.”
About This Wine
Bloody Hill is a second label for Yarra Valley winemaker Timo Mayer. Timo and his son, Rivar, work together on the Bloody Hill wines, selecting fruit and collaborating with growers with whom they have long-standing relationships.
Additional plantings have been introduced to the Mayer estate specifically for the Bloody Hill range.
The term “Villages” was added to the label from the 2020 vintage to indicate that the fruit is sourced from selected vineyard sites across the Yarra Valley subregions.
