Alex Foillard Beaujolais Village offers the perfect expression of Gamay. Floral, fresh and enticing from the first whiff. Beyond the superficial red and blue berry compote, it has depth. Look for fresh herbs and just a hint of funk. The palate of the 2023 Foillard Beaujolais Village is juicy, with crisp acid, and it dances lightly across the palate. Nothing sticks out and nothing offends. Overall, this is a brilliantly drinkable wine with all the charm of modern, complex Beaujolais.
Alex Foillard is the eldest son of Jean Foillard. Jean is one of the benchmark producers of Beaujolais and especially of Morgon's Côte du Py. Alex has been in charge of the family Domaine since 2021, but still makes wines under his own name. Alex's personal wines are still a representative of the family style but with an emphasis on lifted aromatics, supple textures, and that unmistakable sense of drinkability.
