The Balnaves Coonawarra Vineyard, established in 1975, is located at the southern end of the Coonawarra Terra Rossa strip. The family, with roots in the area since 1855, remains wholly dedicated to a 'hands-on' approach. This wine, introduced by Balnaves in 1992, follows the traditional style of Australian Sparkling Burgundies, typically made with Shiraz. However, Balnaves has selected Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for this modern sparkling burgundy as it is considered to possess the greatest character and consistency among all grapes grown in Coonawarra.
