Speyside single malt finished in Caribbean rum casks for honeyed vanilla, toffee richness and tropical fruit warmth.
The Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 Year Old is a signature Speyside single malt that starts life in traditional oak whisky casks, then gains extra sweetness and exotic depth from a finish in Caribbean rum casks. The result is Balvenie’s hallmark honeyed character wrapped in toffee, vanilla and soft tropical notes, with a rounded, lingering finish.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Rich honey, vanilla fudge and soft toffee with ripe orchard fruit and a hint of sweet oak.
Palate: Smooth and generous, brown sugar, butterscotch and creamy malt, plus tropical fruit and gentle cinnamon spice.
Finish: Warm, medium long and lingering with soft spice, drying oak and demerara-like sweetness.
Food Pairing / Serving Suggestions
Enjoy neat, with a splash of water, or over a large cube. Works brilliantly with grilled pineapple, caramel desserts, dark chocolate, spiced nuts, or Jamaican style jerk flavours.
About the Distillery / Producer / Region
The Balvenie is a Speyside distillery in Dufftown, built by William Grant in 1892. It’s famous for its hands on approach and traditional craft, often highlighted as one of the few Scotch distilleries still maintaining multiple “in house” processes (like on-site malting) that help define its distinctive house style.
Cellaring Potential
Scotch whisky doesn’t evolve in a sealed bottle like wine, store upright, away from heat/light, and it will remain stable for years. Once opened, best enjoyed within 12 to 24 months for peak freshness.
Collector’s Note
A decorated release with multiple major competition medals noted by stockists, including Gold (International Spirits Challenge, 2014) and Gold (International Spirits Challenge, 2020).
