Rising above the village, this outstanding 1er Cru will be well known to buyers of Paul Pillot. The Moreau family have farmed here for generations, and Benoît himself converted this site to organics. Specifically, this wine comes from a tiny tranche of 60-year-old vines in the northern section of the vineyard (near Les Vergers), where the soils are less marked by the red clay often associated with this cru. Instead, there is a strong limestone presence, resulting in deep, yet mineral wines. Even in a generous vintage, Benoît only makes one barrel, hence why it has not been reviewed (Benoît does not show it). A wine, then, for those in the know! Like all Benoît Moreau wines, it is brilliant. Importer's Notes
