$34.99
Discover the depth and character of Blackjack Cabernet  Merlot 2021, a refined red  produced by Blackjack Wines, an acclaimed boutique winery located less than 100 km from Melbourne. This wine blends estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon (vines planted in 1989) with Merlot, delivering a polished and food-friendly medium-bodied experience.  Hand-harvested grapes from ancient granitic soils undergo traditional open fermentation, hand plunging, and 22 months of French oak barrique ageing for elegant integration.  Tasting Notes Rich ruby red in the glass, this Cabernet Merlot opens with aromas of cassis, raspberry, red currant, spice, and hints of dark chocolate and dried herbs. The palate is medium-weight, framed by bramble and red fruit flavours layered with cedary oak and supple, fine-grained tannins. The balanced, lingering finish makes it an exceptional companion to hearty dishes.  Halliday Wine Companion - 91 Points An excellent young Bendigo cabernet merlot that brings total enjoyment to the glass. Bright and full of energy, it's all about joyous ripe fruit, generously fragrant and deliciously delivered in red and black berries, black olive and savoury dried herbs with touches of aniseed and chocolate. Firm, fine tannins lead the way. Jeni Port 2024 Food Pairing & Serving Enjoy slightly chilled (16–18 °C) for optimal tasting. This versatile red pairs beautifully with slow-roasted lamb shoulder, beef stew, grilled mushroom risotto, or mature cheeses like aged cheddar and manchego. Its balanced acidity and structured tannins elevate rich, savoury dishes. Enjoy now or cellar for up to 10 years, a fine match for seasonal menus and family gatherings.
