About The Wine BlackJack Shiraz 2020 is a full flavoured Central Victorian Shiraz that brings together ripe dark fruit, spice and generous oak in a confident, traditional style. Sourced from the Harcourt Valley in the Bendigo region, it shows concentrated fruit on the front palate, a rounded, juicy core and fine tannins that carry through to a supple finish. Matured for an extended period in oak, this is a rich, warming red with both immediate appeal and solid structure. Halliday Wine Companion Review A dry, warm hot growing season defines this bold, muscular Bendigo shiraz, which is neither short on dark fruited flavour nor savoury, chocolatey, coconutty oak. The style is now well-accepted by Blackjack and its fans. Blackberry, leather, baked earth, baking spices and chocolate bullets with some savoury tarry edges run free in tandem with ripe, sturdy tannins. Quite a mouthful. About the Winery / Producer / Region BlackJack Wines was founded in 1988 by Ian McKenzie and Ken Pollock in Harcourt, on the foothills of Mount Alexander. The vineyard was planted on an old apple orchard in a cooler pocket just south of Bendigo, and the estate’s Shiraz has become a signature wine for the producer since its first release in 1994. The label has twice won the Royal Melbourne Wine Show trophy for Best Shiraz, helping cement BlackJack’s reputation as a leading regional producer.
