Clonakilla Murrumbateman Syrah 2015 - a single-vineyard expression from one of Australia’s most revered cool-climate producers. Grown exclusively on the Clonakilla estate in Murrumbateman, this limited release Syrah highlights the purity, fragrance, and finesse that define world-class Australian Syrah. 2015 was an exceptional vintage in the Canberra District, producing wines of great intensity and structure. The Murrumbateman Syrah is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, using whole bunch fermentation, wild yeasts, and maturation in fine French oak. The result is a graceful, complex red wine with layers of spice, dark berries, and floral perfume.
Halliday Wine Companion - 98 Points
From the early ripening top half of the estate TandL Block, 100% whole berries, wild-fermented, 1 month on skins, matured for 22 months in French puncheons. Full crimson-purple hue; this has everything a medium-bodied shiraz grown in the right climate should have under the baton of a master winemaker. Black cherry is the dominant flavour, but is flanked on either side by red cherry and blackberry. The palate is silky and supple on the journey until the end, when decorous tannins and French oak add their voices. James Halliday
