Bold Speyside single malt Whisky with baked apple, tropical fruit, spice and a rich, muscular finish.
About The Whisky
Craigellachie 13 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a distinctive Speyside malt with far more weight and character than the region’s lighter stereotype might suggest. Aged for 13 years and bottled at 46% ABV, it is non chill, filtered and made without caramel colouring, giving it a fuller, more natural texture in the glass. Matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks, it delivers a robust, old school whisky style with richness, savoury depth and a touch of tropical fruit.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Baked apple, lemon curd, toasted malt, orchard fruit and a faint struck match edge.
Palate: Oily and full bodied, with pineapple, pear, malt, vanilla, clove and warming spice.
Finish: Long, savoury and characterful, with lingering citrus, spice, oak and gentle smoke.
Whisky Advocate Review - 90 Points
Light amber. The initial impression is one of bulk. There are heavy florals, think lilies and stewed white fruit, and just overripe banana but this is given a mysterious extra heft by an underpinning of a light meatiness, accompanied by a tiny lift of (good) sulfur. The palate is, unsurprisingly, thick and creamy with huge fruit that fills the mouth. A highly physical, old style Speyside dram with classic distillery character. A statement whisky that is a must try. whiskyadvocate.com, (Winter 2014) Dave Broom
Serving Suggestions
Best enjoyed neat, with a splash of water, or over a large cube if you want to soften the edges and open up the fruit. It also suits a more spirit forward serve for whisky drinkers who enjoy richer, more muscular single malts.
About the Winery / Producer / Region
Craigellachie is a historic Speyside distillery founded in 1891 and known for a house style that stands apart from the softer, lighter profile often associated with the region. The distillery has long been recognised for producing a robust and muscular whisky, with a style once described as “old fashioned” and seldom met with today. That distinctive identity remains central to the range, making Craigellachie 13 year old, a standout for drinkers looking for character, texture and depth.
Cellaring Potential
Whisky is ready to drink on release and, once opened, is best enjoyed over time while stored upright in a cool, dark place.
