1 STAR — Hachette Wine Guide · 2026 Edition (a very successful wine)
93/100 — Owen Bargreen · Non-Vintage, Tasted: Dec 2024, When to drink: 2024–2034
“A killer value, the NV Delamotte ‘Blanc de Blancs’ Champagne utilizes 10% reserve wines and was given 7 g/L dosage. Right away this has salted praline notes on the palate alongside buttered French bread and a gorgeous core of rich citrus fruits. Enjoy now and over the next ten years.”
93/100 — Wine Review Online · Non-Vintage, Tasted: Dec 2024
“This brand flies somewhat under the radar by comparison to the big Champagne houses, and that’s usually good for the pocketbook. Though not particularly inexpensive, there is a lot of bang for the buck here. It’s a classy presentation, light on its feet without being light in aromatic development or flavor complexity. Low dosage and about 10% reserve wines in the cuvée keep it on the fresh side, making for a festive aperitif or a beautiful seafood partner.”
92/100 — James Suckling · Non-Vintage, Tasted: Jul 2025
“Some beeswax and savory, flinty undertones to the dried citrus fruit aromas. Walnuts, too. It’s creamy and flavorful, with sleek bubbles and delicious umami nuances. Delicious finish. Chardonnay from Le Mesnil, Avize and Oger. Based on 2019, with 15% reserve wines from 2018 and 2017. Disgorged 2024. 7 g/L dosage. Drink now.”
About This Wine
Delamotte Blanc de Blancs is made from Grand Cru Chardonnay sourced across the Côte des Blancs, including Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize and Oger. The chalky soils, flora and sloping vineyards give the grapes their distinctive purity and consistency.
Vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks. Maturation on the lees extends well beyond the statutory minimum, lasting four to five years before disgorgement, with further ageing after disgorgement refining finesse and elegance.
Tasting Notes
Blanc de Blancs is a mineral Champagne with a chalky sensation achieved by a modest addition of reserve wine (10% maximum), reflecting the pure chalk soils of the vineyard.
