Bright Marlborough Pinot Noir with red cherry, rose petal, dried herbs and silky fine boned tannins.
About The Wine
Dog Point Pinot Noir 2023 is a perfumed, supple Marlborough Pinot Noir with real brightness and finesse. The fruit comes from clay hill slopes, giving the wine both freshness and quiet depth, while the style leans into purity, texture and fine structure rather than heaviness. This is a polished, expressive Pinot Noir with red fruit, florals and savoury detail, and it has the shape to drink beautifully now while also rewarding time in bottle.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Rose, violets, crunchy red berry fruit and dried herbs.
Palate: Succulent and bright, with alluring red cherry, brown spice and a graceful, finely textured flow.
Finish: Long and silky, with fine-boned tannins and a savoury, persistent close.
James Suckling - 93 Points
Dog Point delivers a refined Marlborough Pinot with pretty florals, red cherry intensity and a whisper of spice. Supple tannins and a long, savoury finish make this beautifully structured.
Serving Suggestions
A lovely match for duck, lamb, venison or mushroom dishes.
About the Winery / Producer / Region
Dog Point Vineyard is one of Marlborough’s benchmark estates and is especially well known for wines that combine purity, site expression and a detailed, hands on approach in the vineyard and winery. The Pinot Noir is made from six different clones from vines dating back to 1983, with hand harvesting, hand sorting, indigenous yeast fermentation and extended barrel ageing all contributing to the wine’s layered, finely structured style.
Cellaring Potential
This has the makings of a long lived Marlborough Pinot Noir and should reward medium term cellaring under good conditions.
