The 2023 Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Auslese is from 60- to 80-year-old, ungrafted vines from red slate and rhyolite soils, and it opens with an intense, coolish and smoky bouquet of crushed red stones, lemon zest and herbal notes. It's already very stimulating on the nose! The wine is round, smooth and lush on the palate, generous in its texture but light in its soul and body weight. There is a lot of extract here, but this textural Würzgarten Auslese remains playful and stimulating saline and savory.
