Wine Profile
The 2020 Albe Barolo is made entirely from Nebbiolo grapes sourced from high-elevation vineyards (380–480 m) in Barolo DOCG, with exposures ranging from south-south-east to south-west. The wine displays a harmonious blend of red fruits, including cherries, raspberries, and red currants, complemented by floral and dried leaf aromas. Spice notes of cinnamon and clove, along with subtle herbaceous hints of thyme and bay leaf, add complexity. The palate is lively, with mouthwatering acidity and approachable tannins, making it enjoyable now while also suitable for long-term aging.
Vintage Characteristics
The 2020 vintage in Barolo was remarkably long, with a late harvest due to a slow spring and summer growth cycle. Abundant flowering and well-timed rainfall contributed to perfumy, red-fruit-dominated wines with excellent varietal authenticity and gorgeous tannins. This vintage is noted for its balanced structure, aromatic intensity, and mineral undertones, reflecting the high-quality terroir of Vajra’s vineyards.
