A commanding Barossa Shiraz of immense power, old-vine concentration and iconic Glaetzer intensity.
Glaetzer Amon-Ra Unfiltered Shiraz 2022 is a modern Australian icon, bold, uncompromising and built from some of the Barossa’s oldest vines. It delivers extraordinary depth and structure while retaining balance and precision. If you love Shiraz that’s muscular yet refined, with serious cellaring credentials, Amon-Ra is a must-have for collectors and lovers of top tier Barossa reds.
Halliday Wine Companion - 96 Points
I feel that Ben Glaetzer's Amon-Ra is one of the flag bearers for contemporary Barossan shiraz, certainly when it comes to the more powerful, weighty styles. It has a sense of compression. Wildly concentrated black fruits and palate heft, yet it displays freshness and form; supple, lithe and possessed of northern subregional power writ large. There's an imperious tannin structure but the fruit just sucks it all up and charges on. One for the sybaritic indulger of Barossan wine. It's a ripper. Dave Brookes
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Blackberry, plum and blueberry compote layered with liquorice, anise, dark chocolate and spice.
Palate: Full-bodied and intensely concentrated with dense black fruit, savoury oak, graphite and powerful, fine-grained tannins.
Finish: Exceptionally long, structured and commanding with lingering dark fruit and spice.
Food Pairing / Serving Suggestions

About the Winery / Region
Glaetzer Wines is the personal project of acclaimed winemaker Ben Glaetzer, renowned for crafting some of Australia’s most powerful yet finely balanced reds. Amon-Ra is sourced predominantly from exceptionally old Barossa Shiraz vines, many over 100 years of age, planted in low-yielding sites that deliver immense flavour concentration. The Barossa Valley’s warm climate and ancient soils underpin the wine’s richness, while Glaetzer’s meticulous approach ensures purity, structure and longevity.
Cellaring Potential
A serious long-term cellar wine. Drink now with extended decanting or cellar confidently until 2045+ for full tertiary development.
Collector’s Note
Amon-Ra is one of Australia’s most celebrated Shiraz labels, consistently earning elite critic acclaim and regarded as a benchmark for old-vine Barossa Shiraz. The 2022 vintage continues this legacy, combining power, precision and age-worthiness in equal measure.
