5TH GENERATION The 5th Generation range honours the winemaking endeavours of Grant Burge over five generations while showcasing the exemplary fruit and unrivalled quality produced in our highly acclaimed Barossa region. MERLOT The Winemaking The 2018 vintage saw an unusually dry summer and early autumn, coupled with the cool night-time temperatures allowed the vines to produce fruit with exceptional character and flavour while being harvested at lower degrees of sugar ripeness, producing vibrant, balanced, lower alcohol styles. The Wine The 5th Generation Merlot has a red colour with incredible depth and purple hues. The rich aroma is layered with mixed spice, liquorice, ripe plum and dark cherry on the nose. This medium to full bodied Merlot is filled with liqueur cherry, vanilla and dark chocolate flavours. Textured soft palate with gentle tannins complement a lingering sweet fruit finish.
