The 2023 Le Juice Fleurie is Gamay in all its glory - bright, juicy and just plain delicious. Made by Aussies Tom Sheer and James Audas (of Das Juice & Lo-Fi Wines) with local winemaker Guillaume Chanudet, it comes from a tiny site called La Cabane, high up on the slopes of La Madonne in Fleurie.
Old bush vines rooted in pink granite give the wine lift and character, while a short carbonic maceration and six months in tank keep things fresh and fruit-driven. What you get is a glass full of red berries, florals and gentle spice, supple through the middle with just enough crunch to keep it lively.
It’s unpretentious, super drinkable Beaujolais - the kind of wine you want on the table with good food and good company. Chill it down a touch if you like, it's a great warm weather red.
